The slopes of f(x) and g(x) are the same. The slope of g(x) is undefined. WILL MARK BRAINLIEST!

Answers

The slopes of the linear function f(x) = 4x-1  is 4 and of the given linear function g(x)  has  also slope 4 . The option that the slopes of f(x) and g(x) are same is correct.

What is slope of a linear function?

The slope of a linear function is the measure of steepness of the line traced by given linear function.

If a linear function is given by line y = mx +c then the slope is m

If a linear function passes through two given points (x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂), then its slope is (y₂ - y₁)/(x₂ - x₁)

Given the function f(x) = 4x -1 then comparing it to the form f(x) = mx + c

Slope of f(x) = m = 4

If it is given that g(x) is increasing through (2,3) and (3,7)

Then the slope of g(x) = (7- 3)/(3-2) = 4/1 = 4

Therefore, Slopes of both f(x) ang g(x) is 4.

Thus, the slopes of f(x) and g(x) are the same.

Etsuko practices origami. The square papers she used have a side length of either 7.5 cm or 25.4 cm. Etsuko says the length of the larger paper is 32.9 cm greater than the length of the smaller paper

Answers

To find how many centimeters greater the length of the larger paper is than the length of the smaller paper, the lesser number of centimeters needs to be subtracted from the greater number of centimeters which gives the result that is 17.9cm. Etsuko is incorrect because 25.4 is greater than 7.5cm.

How much greater is the side length of the paper?

The mathematical operation that would be used to determine how much greater the larger paper is compared to the smaller paper is subtraction. Subtraction is the process used to determine the difference between two or more numbers. The sign that is used to represent subtraction is -.

To subtract the numbers, the length of the longer paper would be subtracted from the shorter paper.

Difference in the length of the papers = 25.4 -  7.5 = 17.9cm

Etsuko is wrong because instead of subtracting the lengths, she added the lengths. Addition is used to determine the sum of two or more numbers.

is the expression (17)/(2)g-(9)/(2)h the same as (9)/(2)h-(17)/(2)g ? Explain.

Answers

The fraction expression (17)/(2)g - (9)/(2)h is not the same as (9)/(2)h-(17)/(2)g.

How to subtract fractions?

We are given the fraction expression;

(17/2)g - (9/2)h

Now, the fraction (17/2) is greater than (9/2) and as such the result of the subtraction of the fractions will be positive.

Now, if we change the order of the subtraction to be;

(9/2)h - (17/2)g

This means that the result will now be negative since (9/2) is less than (17/2).

Thus, we can conclude that the expression (17)/(2)g - (9)/(2)h is not the same as (9)/(2)h-(17)/(2)g.

A chemist is heating water so it can dissolve a larger amount of sodium chloride. The water's temperature increases 7°C each minute from an initial temperature of 21°C. How long will it take for the water to reach 49°C?

Answers

If water's temperature increases 7°C each minute from an initial temperature of 21°C. Then the time taken by the water to reach 49 degree Celsius is 4 minutes.

What is temperature?

Temperature defines the atmosphere hotness. And it is expressed in different scales as well as in different parameters like Celsius etc. It is measured through the device known as thermometer.

According to the question, larger amount of sodium chloride is dissolved in the heating water. And the given data states that the water temperature increases 7 degree Celsius every minute.

Initial temperature of water is 21 degree Celsius.

Let us assume, water reaches at 49° C after 'x' minutes.

As per question, every minute temperature increases as 7°C. So, the expression can be written as: (21 + 7x)°C

⇒ 21 + 7x = 49

⇒x = 4 minutes

Answers

The required amount of shipping paid by Mai is 8.

What is percent?

In mathematics, a percent is a number or ratio expressed as a fraction of 100. It is often denoted using percentage sign "%".

Now it is given that,

Amount of shipping fee = 7.95

percentage of shipping fee = 6.25% of the total purchase

Total amount purchased = 128

Thus, amount of shipping for this purchase is given as,

Amount of shipping = 6.25% of 128

Solving,

Amount of shipping = 0.0625*128 = 8

Since the shop charges shipping fees of whichever is greater

and 7.95 < 8

Thus, amount of shipping paid by Mai = 8

Thus, the required amount of shipping paid by Mai is 8.

The solution of the given logarithmic equation is 16.189.

What are the various properties of the logarithm?

Out of several properties of logarithms, some of the main properties are given below:

Product Rule

log (ab) = log a + log b

Change of base

log ₇ x = log x / log 7

Power Rule

log a² = 2 log a

Quotient Rule

log (a / b) = log a - log b

Solving the given equation log₇(2x - 3)² = 2

We are given a logarithmic expression: log₇(2x - 3)² = 2

Using properties of the logarithm, we have

log (2x - 3)² / log 7 = 2

log (2x - 3)² = 2 × log 7

2 log (2x - 3) = 1.6901

log (2x - 3) = 3.3802

Using exponential on both sides,

e^[log (2x - 3)] = e^(3.3802)

2x - 3 = 29.3766

2x = 32.3766

x = 16.189

My greatest concern now being that the sea, as it would carry me a great way towards the shore when it came on, might not carry me back again with it when it gave back towards the sea. The wave that came upon me again buried me at once twenty or thirty feet deep in its own body. I could feel myself carried with a mighty force and swiftness towards the shore a very great way, but I held my breath, and assisted myself to swim still forward with all my might. I was ready to burst with holding my breath, when, as I felt myself rising up, so, to my immediate relief, I found my head and hands shoot out above the surface of the water. Though it was not two seconds of time that I could keep myself so, yet it relieved me greatly, gave me breath, and new courage. I was covered again with water a good while, but not so long but I held it out; and finding the water had spent itself, and began to return, I struck forward against the return of the waves, and felt ground again with my feet. I stood still a few moments to recover breath, and till the waters went from me, and then took to my heels and ran with what strength I had further towards the shore. But neither would this deliver me from the fury of the sea, which came pouring in after me again; and twice more I was lifted up by the waves and carried forward as before, the shore being very flat. The last time of these two had well-nigh been fatal to me, for the sea having hurried me along as before, landed me, or rather dashed me, against a piece of rock, and that with such force, that it left me senseless, and indeed helpless, as to my own deliverance. The blow taking my side and breast, beat the breath as it were quite out of my body; and had it returned again immediately, I must have been strangled in the water; but I recovered a little before the return of the waves. Seeing I should be covered again with the water, I resolved to hold fast by a piece of the rock, and so to hold my breath, if possible, till the wave went back. Now, as the waves were not so high as at first, being nearer land, I held my hold till the wave abated, and then fetched another run, which brought me so near the shore that the next wave, though it went over me, did not so swallow me up as to carry me away. The next run I took, I got to the mainland, where, to my great comfort, I clambered up the cliffs of the shore and sat me down upon the grass, free from danger and quite out of the reach of the water.2Drag each tile to the correct box.
