With what noble gas is the cation in KNO2 isoelectronic?

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

argon

For example, the K+ ion is isoelectronic with argon. Potassium has 19 electrons and 1 is in the outermost shell: a valence electron. If potassium is ionized and becomes a +1 cation, this is to say that it lost its single valence electron. This is favorable, because it gives potassium a noble gas configuration

a book (m = 2 kg) is raised to a height of 1.5 m above the ground. Calculate the gravitational potential energy of the book.

Answers

Answer:

[tex]\boxed {\boxed {\sf 29.4 \ Joules }}[/tex]

Explanation:

Gravitational potential energy can be found using the following formula.

[tex]PE_g= m*g*h[/tex]

When m is the mass, g is the gravitational acceleration, and h is the height.

The book has a mass of 2 kilograms. It's height is 1.5 meters above the ground. Assuming this is on Earth, the gravitational acceleration is 9.8 m/s².

[tex]m= 2 \ kg \\h= 1.5 \ m \\g= 9.8 \ m/s^2[/tex]

Substitute the values into the formula.

[tex]PE_g=2 \ kg * 1.5 \ m * 9.8 \ m/s^2[/tex]

Multiply the first two numbers together.

[tex]PE_g=(3.0 \ kg*m)( 9.8 \ m/s^2)[/tex]

Multiply again.

[tex]PE_g=29.4 \ kg*m^2/s^2[/tex]

1 kilogram square meter per square second is equal to 1 Joule The answer we calculated is equal to 29.4 J

[tex]PE_g= 29.4 \ J[/tex]

The gravitational potential energy of the book is 29.4 Joules.

What is the total number of moles of NO produced when
1.0 mole of O2 is completely consumed?

Answers

Answer:

[tex]\frac{4}{5}[/tex] moles

Explanation:

The reaction equation is given as:

      4NH₃   +  5O₂  →  4NO  +  6H₂O

The number of moles of O₂ that completely reacted is given as 1 mole

To solve this problem, we are going to use a stoichiometric approach from the balanced reaction equation:

         5 moles of O₂ will react completely to produce 4 moles of NO

        1 mole of O₂ will therefore react to produce  x mole of NO

               5x  = 4

                 x  = [tex]\frac{4}{5}[/tex] moles of NO

2Mg + 0, → 2Mgo

Answers

Answer:

Mass = 3 g

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of magnesium = 2.4 g

Mass of oxygen = 2.4 g

Mass of magnesium oxide formed = ?

Solution:

Chemical equation;

2Mg + O₂    →     2MgO

Number of moles of oxygen:

Number of moles = mass / molar mass

Number of moles = 2.4 g/ 32 g/mol

Number of moles = 0.075 mol

Number of moles of magnesium:

Number of moles = mass / molar mass

Number of moles = 2.4 g/ 24 g/mol

Number of moles = 0.1 mol

now we will compare the moles of magnesium oxide with both reactant.

               Mg         :        MgO

                 2          :          2

               0.075    :        0.075

               O₂         :         MgO

                1          :           2

             0.1         :      2/1×0.1 = 0.2

Mass of magnesium oxide:

Mass = number of moles × molar mass

Mass = 0.075 mol × 40 g/mol

Mass = 3 g

A tank containing 550 mL of oxygen has a pressure of 3.5 atms. If the pressure is changed to standard atmospheric pressure, approximately 1.0 atms, what will the resulting volume be?

help!!

Answers

Answer:1925ml

Explanation:

Do not quote me on this but with boyles law in mind as pressure tends to increase the volume of the container decreases. So I believe that you would need to multiply 550ml by the 3.5atm because p1v1=p2v2 so they both end up with the same end answer and if the pressure is 1.0atm then the answer would maybe be 1925ml. since 1*1925ml =1925ml and 3.5atm*550=1925ml (there is always a possibility this is wrong though)

Answer: the picture shows work for number 1,2,4,5,7

Explanation: number 3: as the pressure in the volume decreases, the volume increases causing it to expand and eventually blow.

number 6: because the temperature and the amount of gas don’t change, these terms don’t appear in the equation. What Boyle’s law means is that the volume of a mass of gas is inversely proportional to its pressure. This linear relationship between pressure and volume means doubling the volume of a given mass of gas decreases its pressure by half.

Calculate the mass of hydrogen phosphate, H3PO, that will be produced from 105.9 g of P,Os.

Answers

Answer:

Mass = 72.52 g

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of hydrogen phosphate produced = ?

Mass of P₂O₅ react = 105.9 g

Solution:

Chemical equation:

P₂O₅ + 3H₂O     →     2H₃PO₄

Number of moles of P₂O₅:

Number of moles = mass/molar mass

Molar mass of P₂O₅ 283.9 g/mol

Number of moles = 105.9 g/ 283.9 g/mol

Number of moles = 0.37 mol

Now we will compare the moles of P₂O₅ with H₃PO₄ from balance chemical equation.

                     P₂O₅        :         H₃PO₄

                         1           :           2

                      0.37        :        2/1×0.37= 0.74 mol

Mass of H₃PO₄ :

Mass = number of moles × molar mass

Mass = 0.74 mol ×  98 g/mol

Mass = 72.52 g

As you move down the group, the outer shells get…

Therefore the force of attraction between the shells and the nucleus is….

This makes attracting an extra electron…

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

When group 7 elements react , their atoms  gains  one  electron into their highest occupied  energy level ( outer shell) to form single negative - charged ion .

As you move down the group , the outer shells get increased  i.e an additional electron shell is added  thereby increasing the atomic radius  of the atom.  The electrons in the outer shell move further away from the nucleus as we go down the group .

Therefore the force of  attraction  between the shells and nucleus is decreased .

This makes attracting an extra electron difficult  . And so ability of the atom to attract electron to fill the outermost shell reduces which means the   reactiveness of the atom reduces.

Answers

Answer:

[tex]P_2=3312torr[/tex]

Explanation:

Hello!

In this case, since here we have a pressure-temperature relationship, we need to use the Gay-Lussac's law in order to compute the final pressure as they are in a directly proportional relationship:

[tex]\frac{P_2}{T_2} =\frac{P_1}{T_1}\\\\P_2= \frac{P_1T_2}{T_1}[/tex]

Now, we plug in the given pressure and temperatures in Kelvins to obtain:

[tex]P_2= \frac{1307torr*(477+273)K}{(23+273)K}\\\\P_2=3312torr[/tex]

Lab Report: Types of chemical reactions

Answers

Answer:

The five basic types of chemical reactions are combination, decomposition, single-replacement, double-replacement, and combustion. Analyzing the reactants and products of a given reaction will allow you to place it into one of these categories. Some reactions will fit into more than one category.

Answer:

SEE BELOW HEHEHE YOURE WELCOME

Explanation:

Types of Chemical Reactions

The purpose of this experiment was to make observations of the reactants and products and then later use this information to write a balanced chemical equation. My question before this experiment was how will the reactants affect the products. The hypothesis I made before this experiment was that based off of the materials being used, a gas will form, and so will a solid. I still do not know what the variables are in this experiment such as the independent or dependent.

The materials used in this experiment were:

Bunsen Burner

Striker

Tongs

Test Tube

Test Tube Rack

Test Tube Holder

Spatula

Sand Paper

Transfer Pipette

Tweezers

Evaporating dish

The substances used in this experiment were:

Copper wire

Sodium carbonate

Copper sulfate

Potassium iodide

Lead nitrate

Zinc

In this experiment we started off by placing about 20 drops of copper sulfate solution into a test tube and then put zinc into the test tube and watched it as single replacement occurred and zinc sulfate was the product.Next we put 10 drops of potassium iodide into another test tube and 10 drops of lead nitrate into a separate test tube. Then we added the lead nitrate into the potassium iodide and watched as double replacement occurred as lead iodide formed and potassium nitrate formed as well. Next, I sanded down a piece of 3-inch copper wire until it was shiny and watched as combustion and synthesis occurred when we held the piece of copper over a bunsen burner. Copper oxide was found formed on the wire. The other reactant in this equation was oxygen gas. After this, we used a small spatula to place about half an inch of sodium carbonate in a clean test tube and then heated the tube over the flame and watched as decomposition took place and carbon dioxide was released. The reaction was a gas formation and 2 products were formed. This was the lab experiment.

Based on this experiment and my hypothesis made beforehand, my hypothesis was almost correct other than the fact that I did not think that color change would occur so I was surprised by that. But other than that, my data did support my hypothesis showing that a gas and a solid were formed in two different ways. One error I made was when I was recording the data in a data table, I did not notice a color change at first but I rewatched the experiment. One way that I could have improved this lab investigation was pay more attention to the precise details because those make a huge difference.

Price increases on goods in the economy signal producers to __________ production.
A.
stop
B.
increase
C.
decrease
D.
maintain

Answers

Answer:

C. decrease

Explanation:

Price increases on goods in the economy signal producers to decrease production.

Producers benefits more when the price of goods and services increases in the market. This makes them have more profit.

To maintain this profit level, they often decrease their production output to create a form of artificial scarcity within the market to sustain the price at which their goods trades.

If the producer increases the amount of goods they produce, this flux of goods can cause a decrease in price as the consumer is favored with a good bargaining power.
